reservoir renovation project
The above-ground, off-stream reservoir is a vital component of Tampa Bay Water’s surface water system. The reservoir came on line in 2005, but in December 2006, larger-than-expected cracks began to form in the soil cement interior face of the facility’s erosion control structure.
To ensure long-term reliability and functionality of the facility, Tampa Bay Water’s Board of Directors in June 2009 approved a permanent fix to the unexpected cracking in the reservoir’s soil cement erosion control layer. A permanent fix is required in order for the facility to be used at is intended fill and drawdown rates.
The agency has selected the Design-Build-Maintain procurement option for its Reservoir Renovation Project. Design-Build-Maintain was selected because the maintenance component provides value on short- and long-term maintenance, but also ensures the successful contractor stands behind its work until the fix is deemed successful.
Tampa Bay Water posted a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for interested renovation teams to respond to no later than July 30, 2010. RFQ forms may be obtained by clicking on the website link Working With Us then going to request for Bids/Proposals.
A non-mandatory RFQ briefing session was held on Monday, June 28th. Following are documents provided from that session.
