reservoir storage

The C.W. Bill Young Regional Reservoir is the region’s water savings account.  When full, this above-ground, off-stream facility provides 25 percent of the region’s needs for more than half the year.

Water skimmed from the Tampa Bypass Canal, Alafia and Hillsborough rivers is stored in the reservoir during wet times for use during dry times.  By skimming surface water during rainy seasons, we can save enough water to make our system more reliable during the drier seasons and times of drought.
